This is a lovely, nearly unissued condition example of a Trench Gun ammo pouch. This would have been used to store loose shells that would not have been able to fit on a bandolier or ammunition belt. This example does not have the loops on the inside to better secure the shells. This example was used during the Vietnam War and is well marked under the flap: CASE, AMMUNITION, SHOTGUN COTTON DUCK, O. D. DSA 100 69 C
