This is a strong service used example of the U. S. Model 1906 Light Cavalry Saber, manufactured by the Ames Sword Company and dated 1906, complete with its correct all steel scabbard. Closely based on the familiar Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber of Civil War and Indian Wars fame, the Model 1906 retained the long curved blade and traditional cavalry form while substituting a steel hilt for the earlier brass furniture.
